I like to say that my job is to be (effectively) invisible. Ok… that might need some explanation. Consider movie special effects experts. They will often say things like, “If you see our work, we’ve failed.” What they mean is, if you see the wires holding Superman in the air, you’ve been taken out of the story and magic is lost. For the hour or so that you’re watching the film, special effects experts strive to have you suspend your disbelief and enjoy what you see.
While I’m not creating fantastic illusions of a dude in tights flying through the air, my work DOES involve taking on your unique voice and tone - speaking to your audience as you would and sharing your passion in a way that engages and excites them. This takes time, research, collaboration and an alarming amount of caffeine. However the results are all worth it!
